Anne 'having a go' with a palette knife
The first day of a new journey: 17 Dec 2024
Welcome to my new website where you can join me on my creative journey through all that I love about art.
You might already know me from the AnArt4Life blog which I co-produced along with several wonderful friends for many years and which remains on the internet as a resource for anyone interested in "all things art".
My love of art began when I was very, very young as I was lucky enough to be born into a family who were and still are, very creative in multiple ways.
My father restored furniture as a hobby and indeed could have done it professionally if he had wanted to but preferred to "just have fun with wood" literally until his dying days. He taught me to use a wood lathe, to French polish, and most importantly to love "all things wood"! He loved designing furniture and I still have all his drawing tools amongst my treasured possessions. He taught me to love the Australian bush and most importantly, he taught me to "have a go" at making whatever you fancied without thought of how good it might turn out to be. On his way home from work he would call in at the Bendigo Pottery to get a bucket of clay for my brother and me to play with. I loved my Dad for all he gave me and especially for doing all that horrible maths homework!!
When next I write I'll tell you more about my mother who was an amazingly intelligent and creative woman, who loved her husband and children dearly but who no doubt was frustrated from being born too early in the C20th.
