This painting is a reminder of my home territory of Central Victoria and I used the stimulus of the miners' cottages around Castlemaine and Chewton for the idea. Available as a print.

I wanted to experiment with the way the setting sun interacted with a rain-drenched road, capturing the reflections that shimmered in the puddles. At the same time, I envisioned creating the effect of the countryside being bathed in a soft, golden light—like it was covered in "gold dust." The challenge was balancing these two elements—the wet road and the warm glow—while making sure each enhanced the other. Looking at the final result, I was pleased with how it turned out. It wasn't exactly what I had envisioned, but it was close enough, and I was happy with the way the atmosphere and lighting came together.
